Customer Reviews:
Are you new to Christopher Moore's world?
I was. I had read You Suck without knowing it was a sequel and totally enjoyed it. I thought I would give A Dirty Job a chance. Suspend your disbelief and enter this world of monsters and death in a green linen suit and you'll enjoy the ride. His characters are real, well...characters.
Charlie and his great family and neighbours as well as his quirky staff will have you smiling and laughing out loud. It also has some seriously creepy action (involving well dressed little beasts and sewer dwellers) and some seriously creepy sexy scenes. You'll be on the edge of your seat everytime someone's name is written down.
Christopher Moore gets darker!
Although the storyline has its flaws and the author hits on a few "groaner" jokes, A Dirty Job aims for a target much lower on the cutesy scale that some of Moore's other books. This approach takes readers on journey to a dark, crude yet wildly intelligent, tongue-in-cheek place where horror-worthy creatures are made comical by his trademark perfect-punch-line sense of humor. He's one of the few authors to consistently make me laugh out loud, and this extra-dark addition to my Moore collection is no exception.
Sent Me Into Giggle Fits
Wow! This was a fabulous book. It was just so much fun! We start with an incredibly exciting and delicious demon story complete with hellhounds and The Morrigan. Then Moore has added an element of humour that is unmatched in anything I've read before; the only thing I can think of to compare it to is Monty Python humour. Very dark, dry, non-PC and sent me into occasional giggle fits.

The characters were pure joy. I really enjoyed Lily the goth girl. As I read this book I actually pictured it as a movie in my head. Maybe Joss Whedon could direct?

I read this in just over a day and could not put it down. I cannot wait to read another Christopher Moore book and if it's anywhere close to as good as this one, I know I will be reading all of his books. In fact, I'm going to go buy a copy of this book (this is a library copy) so I can read it again.
Wow - quite the sense of humour!
Laughed out loud throughout and picked up alot of new sayings. This guy is funny and imaginative! First I've read of this author and I'm getting some more now - hope they are as good. Was nice and refreshing after "The Glass Castle" read (which was great - but a little heavy). When you need something light that's not about shopping or martini's or kids - this is the book for you - A definate original idea - I have never read one quite like this before - it's getting passed around my circle of friends as i write.
