Good start, boring middle, bad end

I started reading this book because I had an interest in Mikhail Kalashnikov, and his most famous invention: The AK47. The first part is pretty good, with lots of information about Mikhail Kalashnikov's life that I did not know. As the book went on however I got bored with stories of how the AK47 was used in Vietnam, since the gun was really not the main focus. I skipped ahead to the section on the AK47 and American culture. Various inferences were made that seem off. The book seemed to infer that the game Doom had an AK47 in it (it did not). The book stated Columbine happened in 1991 (it happened in 99, and it was more than a misprint in the book since he refers to and event in 89 as happening "two years earlier") and called the AK Michael McDermott used automatic, when it was not (it was semi). I know it may seem like I'm nitpicking, but after reading those misstatements in just a few paragraphs it made me wonder if I should trust anything else the the book.
