Pretty fly for a white-eye
|
This is the first novel in what promises to be a captivating new series, simply put The Stormcaller by Tom Lloyd is one of the best fantasy novels I have ever read. It has incredibly fast paced action, new and colorful characters, a world fraught with demons and gods, and a plot that seems to sinuate its way into every character's life.
The Stormcaller follows the ascension of a white eye named Isak into the position of the most powerful ruler of the land. In a world where gods play an active role in the affairs of mortals, the white eyes are the god touched beings meant to fulfill prophecies and lead men. Unimaginably powerful but also quick to anger they are a dangerous breed that most fear and hate, but now must accept as savior.
Tom Lloyd blends generic fantasy - creatures like vampires and trolls - with his own unique twists that plays on the human race's flaws and the power struggle of the gods. The Stormcaller is an absolute must read for any fan of JRR Tolkien, JK Rowling, Robert Jordan, Terry Brooks or any other epic fantasy writer.
