Great book

I just tried two of the ideas in this book and they both turned out great. I made the spaghetti and meatballs and the tv dinner. I had no trouble creating my masterpieces--they look complicated, but the directions in this book were easy to follow and I was finished in no time. I was amazed at my results. I have no cake decorating skills at all, but this book gave me the confidence to give it a try and I'm glad I did.
There are lots of different ideas in the book, to copy and to inspire. The supplies required are basic, no fancy cake decorating tools needed. Brand name suggestions are given for each candy shown and it was easy to find everything I needed at my local bulk food store. There are recipes for cupcakes and frosting included in the back of the book, although you can just as easily go with cake mix and canned icing.
I highly recommend this book. Its simple instructions and amazing ideas will help you easily create an amazing dessert to serve to your friends and family.

Just not realistic for my life

I saw the puppies on the cover, and immediately envisioned my 3-year-old's gasp of delight if presented with these at her next party. (For the record, the mere picture elicited an enthusiasic "Ooohhhh") But I think I was hoping for some simpler ideas.
Don't get me wrong, the cupcakes look amazing, and probably mostly doable, but I can't imagine myself putting that much time into decorating cupcakes. I question whether I'd really be able to get mine looking like the pictures - particularly using only ziplock bags to ice with! And I'm definitely not game to head off to specialty shops for assorted colors of chocolate coated sunflower seeds and special-order muffic cups.
So although the author promises you need no special equipment to recreate her results, you must definitely be prepared to aquire some VERY specialized candies & decorations. For EVERY recipe. Had there been a single pattern that could be made from what was already in my (reasonably well-stocked) pantry, I might have kept the book.

I LOVE this book! This book makes you look at the items in a Bulk Barn store in a different light. The ideas are simply fantastic and will blow away any child or adult alike. The authors are realistic and offer cupcake recipes using cake mix, and show quick and easy ways to decorate using beautiful pictures and simple instructions. Thanks for such a great book!
