Long passages written in a verbose authoritative style make this book hard to follow. I think it is badly in need of an editor.
They should sell it along with a cowbell because so many tourists have unknowingly bought into their shtick. This new edition almost word for word matches the previous edition.
I found the restaurant list needs updating. This guide just has all sorts of major errors that warrented the return.

The only guide you will ever need for Maui!!

We first bought this book when it came out a few years ago, it is the best and most honest resource for anyone vacationing in Maui. We were told even the locals use this book! We always purchase the revised and updated versions when they become available.

what happened on Maui

It was not until we arrived that we realised how often private property was being disrespected. We encountered many no tresspassing and keepout signs along the route this blue guide recommended. Folks visiting didn't seem to honour the signs. We were afraid of being arrested and kept driving only to encounter the same problem down the road along with other bewildered visitors who were being misguided.
We weren't very popular when people saw us reading it and the lifeguard in the orange tower told us all kinds of horror stories about people being washed out to the sea.

a must have for any maui visit

My wife and I spent 16 days on Maui. Thanks to Maui Revealed it was the best vacation we've ever had. I liked the direct "this is the way it really is" approach. The authors clearly don't have ties with local business and residents so you really get the true story. They don't overhype and tell you the bad side of things too (not that Maui has significant bad sides!)The locals must hate this book. We found many treasures such as an almost deserted beach, (locals approached us and asked how we new about it), important tips on visiting unadvertised places like bluehole, dragons teeth, and many other unmarked stops that we would certainly have missed. We found the info to be very accurate. It saved us a ton of time. Didn't agree with several restaurant reviews though.

Frommer's was better in terms of real facts and information I needed. I liked Frommer's because when I needed an address or recommendation or restaurant price range I could find it in a snap. I found Maui Revealed a fictional work badly representing this perfectly beautiful spot.
